Abstract:
Magnetization measurements are an important experimental tool for investigating magnetic interactions, field-induced phase transitions, and exotic quantum states in condensed matter. The Magnetic Property Measurement System (MPMS) is widely used for highly sensitive magnetization measurements. However, its capabilities are limited under ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field conditions. One technique for magnetization measurements under such extreme conditions is Faraday force magnetometer, which detects the force acting on a sample in a magnetic-field gradient.
In this presentation, I will review advances in low-temperature and high-field magnetometry [1-4]. I will then report magnetization measurements of the kagome antiferromagnet In-kapellasite and Sc-kapellasite, focusing on the characteristic magnetization behavior and the emergence of a one-third magnetization plateau at relatively low magnetic fields. These measurements were performed using a newly developed compact Faraday-force magnetometer [5].
