Research on spin glasses has a long history of more than half a century. While the concept and the methodology developed in the spin glass research has had far-reaching impacts on wider areas including bioscience and information science, a bit surprisingly, the original problem of spin glasses as magnets has not fully been understood yet, some unsolved puzzles still remaining. Here, I shall return the origin, and deal with the issue of what is the true nature of the ordering of spin-glass magnets, from the viewpoint of the `chirality’ — a multi-spin quantity representing the handedness of the noncoplanar spin structure. The chirality scenario claims that the chirality is a true but hidden order parameter of the real-world spin glass transition of Heisenberg-like spin glasses, i.e., nearly isotropic spin glasses with weak random magnetic anisotropy including canonical spin glasses [1,2]. The scenario indeed provides various predictions to real spin glass ordering. The experimental data are then examined from the perspective of the chirality scenario, which seem, overall, supportive of the scenario.
