Center for New Materials Research
The Center for New Materials Research advances condensed matter physics through the discovery and creation of novel materials. Through diverse and complementary approaches, including the expansion of material systems under study, the development of new materials design methods utilizing supercomputers, and the establishment of capabilities to investigate materials unstable in air, the Center aims to establish an efficient and integrated cycle of materials discovery. The outcomes of this cycle are broadly shared with the materials science community, while the Center also supports joint research through seven sections dedicated to materials synthesis, characterization, and measurement, serving as a collaborative hub for domestic and international research groups. Through these efforts, the Center contributes to the discovery of next-generation perovskites, a powerful class of materials that opens new directions in condensed matter physics.
