Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJ) are the basic building blocks of spintronics.
Besides sensor and memory functionalities these devices also demonstrate a variety of
microwave functionalities. Through the combination of spin angular momentum
transfer and the non-linear magnetization dynamics, these nanoscale MTJ devices can
generate (conversion DC-RF) and detect (conversion RF-DC) microwave signals at
small footprint and high frequency agility, covering a large frequency range of several
hundreds of MHz to several tens of GHz.
In this presentation I will review the efforts done at SPINTEC to investigate the
rich spectrum of multifunctional properties of single and coupled MTJ devices for
applications such as fast spectrum analysis, wake-up receivers and Ising spin based
computing platforms.
