Well-defined Polymer Hydrogels
Short autobiography:
Costas S. Patrickios is Professor of Chemistry at the University of Cyprus, where he has been faculty member since 1998. His first academic appointment was a Lectureship in Chemical Engineering at UMIST, Manchester, UK (1996-7). Dr. Patrickios studied Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (B.Sc. 1988) and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.Sc. 1990; Ph.D. 1993 with T. A. Hatton), while he was trained in controlled polymer synthesis during his post-doctoral years (1994-6) at the School of Molecular Sciences of the University of Sussex in the UK (with S. P. Armes and N. C. Billingham). Current activities of his Research Team focus on the synthesis of end-linked functional polymer conetworks using various polymerization techniques, most notably group transfer polymerization (GTP) and reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization.
Research Interests:
- Amphiphilic polymer conetworks
- Degradable and dynamic networks
- Controlled polymerization
