All worker of off-campus facilities such as X-ray devices, synchrotron radiation neutron instruments, and RI at the institute are required to register as radiation workers. The following courses and examinations are required for registration.

  1. Radiation education
  2. Radiation user (RI) medical examination
  3. Radiation department training

(1) Various applications for using radiation at the University of Tokyo, web-based medical checkups, and application for the University-wide education are all done on the Radiation Handling Registration Management System (UTRadMS). Please register at the link.

(2) Radiation worker (RI) medical checkup is required for new and continuing radiation workers who need to receive a medical checkup. The checkups are conducted approximately once a month. For details, please refer to the website of the Health-Center. If an emergency response is required for an experiment, etc., please consult the Radiation Protection Office.

(3) The Radiation Department Course is a course conducted independently by the Institute of Solid State Physics. In April and October, we will hold in-person sessions and announce them to all locations. The rest of the months will be open at any time, but will eventually be converted to e-learning.Please contact us via the contact email address.

(4) Upon completion of the above procedures, a glass badge will be issued. When performing radiation-related work, it is required by various laws and regulations to keep records of radiation doses. Please wear the badge in the designated place during work. Measurements are taken monthly. At the end of each month, each laboratory will receive a badge from the Administration Office. Please replace the badge and put it in the glass badge box on the second floor of Building A. For more information on glass badges and laws and regulations, please visit the Chiyoda Technol website and read it before use. Since a large amount of money is spent on dosimetry, please be sure to contact the Management Office if you wish to temporarily stop using the facility or stop using it due to a change in personnel.
