Report on ISWs (Nov. 25, 2011)
1st ISWs @ AOCNS were over with great success. We thank you for your participation and cooperation. The report is here.

Final notice before ISWs (Nov. 17, 2011)
* ISWs will be held as scheduled. More than 100 scientists have expressed to participate in one of ISWs. Anybody is welcome to walk-in although chairs are limited.
* Meeting rooms will be open from 12:45.
* Only one wire-Lan is available. Wireless-Lan is available in common places in Epochal Tsukuba.
* Coordinators are requested to chair the workshop, to submit a report including the number of participants, workshop photos, and comments about ISW.
* I thank you for your kind coopearation. M. Shibayama (Coordinator-in-Chief.)

*** Welcome to Instrument Scientist Workshop ***

According to the discussion made at the Inaugural Asia-Oceania Neutron Facility Directors Meeting, Bandung, Indonesia, May 20, 2011, workshops for instrument scientist (ISWs) will be held in Tsukuba as a satellite meeting of AOCNS.
The aim and scope of the ISWs are as follows:
(1) Instrument scientists would benefit from shared knowledge, particularly in respect of complementary capabilities at other facilities in the region.
(2) ISWs will be held periodically, e.g., as satellite meetings of the Asia-Oceania Conferences on Neutron Scattering.

The first ISWs cover (1) powder diffraction, (2) single crystal diffraction, (3) small angle scattering, (4) reflectometer, (5) triple axis, (6) TOF, (7) engineering diffractometer, and (8) neutron imaging.

*** Mission Statement for the Asia-Oceania Neutron Facility

Directors Meeting ***

The aim of the Asia-Oceania Facility Directors meetings is to provide tangible benefit to each other through enhanced utilization of our neutron sources. Mechanisms for achieving this include co-ordination of our user programs, multilateral exchange of technical information and provision of support to users of facilities that are at reduced capacity. (See, the AONSA EC Meeting Report, May, 2011)

*** Date & Place ***

Date: Sun., Nov. 20, 2011

Time: 13:00 - 16:00 (open at 12:45)

Place: Epochal Tsukuba

*** Room Assignment and Coordinator(s) ***

Note: The room assignment of TOF has been exchanged on Nov. 15.

Note: The room assignment of Neutron Imaging and Triple axis has been exchanged on Oct. 27.

*** Program ***

ISWs are open workshops and anybody is welcome. However, if you wish to attend an ISW, please contact to the corresponding coordinator(s). This is necessary to estimate the number of participants because the room capacity is limited.
