Research Area of Y. Ueda's group: Inorganic Solid State Chemisty. Particularly, our interest is centered on the discovery and synthesis of new classes of inorganic compounds which display novel and interesting electronic and magnetic properties such as superconductivity, charge ordering and spin gap, and investigation of correlation between the crystal structure and the observed properties.
Y. Ueda Laboratory belongs to the section of "Material Design and Characterization Laboratories (MDCL)" in ISSP, Univ. of Tokyo. MDCL, which consists of several groups of synthesis, chemical and physical characterizations and computation, was established in 1996. The concept of MDCL is, in short, a cooperative research between experiment and theory with an aim of exploring new materials which exhibit interesting quantum physical phenomena.
