Applicants Guide for Visiting Professorship
Stimulus from the external scientific community is important in enlivening the activities of the Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP), the University of Tokyo. The ISSP invites application for visiting professorship positions in the research of mutual interest where collaboration between the visitor and a permanent member is expected to result in significant advance. The joint projects are expected to complete from three to twelve months.(2 positions available)
Term of professorship: three to twelve months after August 2013
Much of the ISSP’s activities have been in the areas of condensed matter physics.
Some other related projects will be also considered. Proposals of innovative ideas are encouraged. The criteria for the selection of visiting Professor positions include intellectual significance, timeliness, compatibility with the ISSP personnel and facility, scientific significance, and availability of outstanding individuals.
Applicants should begin by contacting a permanent member of ISSP as a potential host.
Candidates for positions should submit their application including:
-CV
-List of publications
-Brief outline of research proposal
-Three names of reference
to the individual faculty member who is expected to host you. . Applications for the visiting Professor positions are considered by a selection committee which meets autumn 2012. The ISSP visiting Professor program has been advertised online in “Physics Today”,"Nature" and "Science".
